Cyclone Phet

OMAN FINALLY GOT SOME RAIN!!! Well we actually got a lot of rain. Around 4:30am, June 4th, Cyclone (Hurricane) Phet made it to Oman. The weather center here kept saying it would be a Cat. 5 when it made landfall, but it started to weaken and once it made it to Oman became a tropical storm. Phet brought about 8 inches of rain (that’s a lot for the desert) and high winds, but nothing like what the States get when a hurricane/tropical storm comes through. The worse part of it all was our bedroom flooded. We have two doors that lead out to a patio in our room, and I guess they weren’t sealed very well. We woke up to a lake in our room and no matter how much we try to get the water up it just keeps coming. Why is it that Bubba and I have such bad luck with our bedrooms flooding?? Our room at our house in Flint - flooded, our first house in Oman - flooded, second Oman house - flooded. Our next house is going to be high up on a hill. Needless to say tonight Bubba and I are sleeping in our guest room, so we don’t slip and hurt ourselves getting up in the night. Here are some pics we took of the storm. Some are from our roof, at the beach, and driving around.

The calm before the storm
Take on our roof - beach side

Before it really started to come down

Crazy waves
Phet made it to Oman
Of course we would be out in it
It wasn't as deep as it looks
At least we stayed in our car
Unlike these crazy people
The wind was strong
It was shaking our car while we were taking these pics
Cross it one more time
We aren't sure what these guys were trying to do
but they got stuck doing it
