Anything Like Me

This is such a great song and it makes me think of Bubba and Kendall everytime I hear it. Bubba is such an amazing dad, and I know everything that is said in this song Bubba has thought about at one point since we found out we were having a boy. This song is great for any dad about to have is has a son.

New Do

Kendall got his first haircut from a barber. Bubba took Kendall yesterday to the man that cuts Bubba's hair, and I must say he did a very good job. Especially since the barber doesn't speak English. Bubba put Kendall in his lap, they set up some cartoons, and the barber went to town. Of course Kendall didn’t want the cape around him, so Bubba wore it to keep the hair off of him. His curls in the back are no longer there, but it was time to have them cut off. His hair in the back was the makings of a mullet, and it wasn’t looking to great. Plus he’s a big boy now and needed a big boy haircut. Just now he looks even more like his daddy – nothing wrong with that, Bubba is a very handsome man. I’m happy that there is a place here that can cut Kendall’s hair and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

ONE YEAR OLD!!

Its official, we have a one year old. Well actually we now have a 13 month old as of today, but you know what I mean. This will be the last of these types of Kendall updates, but I'll do yearly updates like this. Bubba and I are so amazed by Kendall and what he does. It's seems like there is something new every day. Just like the other day when he started to climb the stairs by himself, or when he started to walk holding onto one of our hands instead of both. It’s like he became a toddler overnight, except he isn’t walking on his own just yet. I’m sure that will happen out of the blue like everything else; instead of walking he will probably start running.

No matter what is going on in the day or what new things he's doing; there is one thing that will always be true from day to day that is he brings so much joy and happiness into our lives. The past twelve months have been scary, exhausting, fun, happy, an absolute wonderful experience that I wouldn’t trade for all the money in the world. I can’t wait to see what the years have in store for not just Bubba and me, and us as a family, but for Kendall as well. He is such a sweet, loving, funny little boy and my hope is that those things will never change.

NEW
Climbing stairs – really climbing anything
Chasing Mollie and Chloe in his “car”
Giving kisses
Waving bye-bye
Fake crying
Working on feeding himself with a spoon

NEW FOODS

Cow’s Milk – he’s starting to like it more
Eggs
Sausage
Refried Beans
Blueberry Muffin
Sugar Cookie

NEW WORDS
Bye-bye

Such a boy!

Oh my goodness, Kendall is such a boy. He would play on the first step of the stairs, but wouldn't go further then that. Then he decided to be more adventurous and go up a step or two. The next thing I know he's climbing up the entire set of stairs. Such a big boy!!

Our last Christmas in Oman

Ok I know I'm behind and that Christmas was several weeks ago, but better late then never. As you can see from the title this was our last Christmas in Oman. WHOOOHOOO!! We hope to be back in Texas a few months from now and are super excited. Ok back to Christmas, it's a little hard getting into the spirit of the holidays when you live in a Muslim country, but we did everything we could to make it feel a little like Christmas. We left our movie A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation at home, and it just isn't the holidays without those movies, so we downloaded them off of iTunes. Plus tons of Christmas music. If we weren't playing the movies we were listening to the fun music.

We got up early Christmas day, I take that back Kendall got us up early, to see what Santa left under the tree. Kendall got some really fun toys, a couple to help him learn to walk, a few puzzles, more clothes, books, and a bubble machine that he absolutely loves. Bubba and I had our Christmas at home before we came back to Oman. This year was the year of boots. I got Bubba a pair of elephant cowboy boots and he got me an awesome pair of Lucky Brand riding boots. Next Christmas is going to be so much fun, not only will Kendall be 2 years old, but we will be HOME!!!

Kendall's 1st Birthday

It is now official we have a one year old. It's so crazy how fast the past year has flown by. We were so happy to celebrate Kendall's big day home in Texas surrounded by family and friends. I had been planning his party for several  months, and I must say it turned out above and beyond what I imagined. My best friend Abby and I got started on the decorations a few weeks before the party because we wanted to make most of them oursevles. Abby had made a banner for her daughter's birthday that is absolutly adorable, and I wanted to make something similar for Kendall's party. It turned out wonderful. I had stolen and idea from a blog I had seen to display pictures from the past 12 months. Well it got down to crunch time and had to pull in some family support to help get it done. It was fun watching everyone jump in and want to help make Kendall's day so special.

We decided to do cupcakes instead of one big cake. A friend of mine recommended a girl that does cookies and cupcakes out of her home. Her name is Lauren and the name of her business is More Then Chocolate. She did an awesome job on his cupcakes. They were so cute and very very yummy! I will be using her again for sure. For Kendall's cake I took on the task of making it. I ordered one of those "As Seen On TV" giant cupcake pans and got to work. A few days before I did a test run and got my confidence up cause it actually turned out ok. Kendall's cake didn't do as well. I guess I didn't spray the pan for the top of the cupcake that great cause it ended up sticking. I paniked a little but made it work in the end. His cake topper I got from a lady on Etsy. It's amazing how much Mod Monkey stuff they have on there...thankfully that is what Kendall's theme was.

Kendall had such a fun time with everyone. He slept great that night. Thank you to everyone that was able to come celebrate with us and for helping make his day so special. We thank God every day for putting such amazing people in our lives.
